Chapter 1: Key concepts

Note: Resources must be defined under the Resources menu to be visible in Configuration, so make sure this is done before proceeding.

A configuration describes a set of vessels and/or equipment that will be operating independently to log a single type of production.

How many configurations do I need?

General examples:

2 boats operating independently on the same block is 2 configurations, even if their equipment/operation type is the same

A single boat performing 2 distinct types of operations requiring different production log types is 2 configurations

Seismic examples:

Standard towed streamer seismic is 1 configuration

A source boat and node boat is 2 configurations

2 source boats and 1 node boat is 3 configurations

2 vessels working together conducting a WAZ survey is 1 configuration.

2 vessels operating independently acquiring data on the same block is 2 configurations

What happens if you change something?

The main purposes of configurations are:

Providing default settings for calculations and plots

Filtering totals and charts by configuration

If you think a change will impact either of the things above, then you should create a new configuration. Note that many changes such as adding / removing streamers can be dealt with by changing the default parameters in the production log, such as “active CMPs”.

If in doubt, use the Duplicate current configuration button to add a new configuration.

Chapter 2: Creating a new Configuration

Use the “+” on the toolbar to create a new configuration.

Then work your way through the settings, using the hints to the right of the input boxes

Chapter 3: Associating Resources to a Configuration

Once the basic project configuration has been entered, the related vessel/s can be added to the configuration.

Click on the “+” button to the right of the configuration

Select vessel(s).

The next step is to add streamers, sources, buoys and other geophysical equipment to the vessel in a similar way, by clicking on the “+” button next to the vessel, then selecting the relevant resources.

Tip:
It is best to add source 1 and streamer/cable 1 at first. Once they have been configured, they can be duplicated using the Duplicate current configuration button (hold down for multiple).
If they are duplicated before details are populated each defined source or streamer/cable can be selected and populated as one.
