Geophysical Survey Setup

Contents

This guide is designed for professionals involved in geophysical site- and route surveys, including analogue, digital, or integrated surveys. It will help you set up your project by covering the following essential steps:

Chapter 1: Setting G.S. a Production Type on your vessel
Chapter 2: Adding G.S. Equipment Types to your Resources
Chapter 3: Creating a Geophysical Survey configuration
Chapter 4: Importing a Route File

Please note that this guide focuses on the specific setup procedures for geophysical site and route surveys. For general setup instructions, refer to the main Setup documents.

Chapter 1: Setting Geophysical Survey as a Production Type on Your Vessel

Go to Setup  Resources, select your vessel, and check the Geophysical Survey box.

If a secondary vessel like an ROV, USV, or AUV will be used to complete the survey, add the vessel as a Monitored Resource and select Geophysical Survey.

If you are also conducting Geotechnical Operations, such as CPT at various locations, check the Location Operation box.

Chapter 2: Adding Geophysical Survey Equipment Types to Your Resources

Including specific equipment in the resources section.

Add the specific equipment to be used in your project in the resources section, by right clicking on the bold Equipment resource title in the tree.

Rename the initially assigned generic names to more descriptive titles.

Chapter 3: Creating a Geophysical Survey Configuration

Adding a new Geophysical Survey configuration.

In the configuration area, add a new site survey configuration.

Right-click on the new configuration to add the relevant vessel.

Then, right-click on the vessel to include the appropriate survey equipment.

Note: Make sure to set the line logging unit field to either ‘KM Point’ or ‘shotpoint’. This controls what you will use in your production log for the start and end of line values. In both cases you can still report on your production in kilometres.

Note: Create separate configurations for different vessels or equipment requirements.

Chapter 4: Importing a Route File

Within the main Tools icon, select Import and QC.

Select the block to add the route file to and click the '+' to add a file and choose a preplot format. You can use GIS (shape files) or P1/90 files.

Configuring route file settings.

Configure the settings, ensuring you've chosen the correct configuration and production type, specified the field for line naming, and selected a colour for the route on maps.

Right-click on the file and select 'Import.'

Verifying a successful route file import.

Navigate to the 'Grid Track Plots' tab to verify a successful import.
