Chapter 1: Quick binning

Go to Import  Area Plots. Quick Binning uses default settings derived from your configuration. It will take some time to generate and plot.

Chapter 2: Main binning

You can create custom binning plots in Tools  Binning.

Plot Configuration

Before you can create a custom binning plot, you must first add and configure Vintage, Grid, Uniqueness and Palette.

Add a resource by clicking the + button next to the resource.

Detailed descriptions for every resource can be found on the following pages.

Vintage

A vintage is a definition of the lines and shots that will be used to generate the coverage plot. You can create multiple vintages either containing or not containing infill.

You can manually add bad receiver and bad shot resources to the line by selecting the sequence and adding entries to the right-hand side.

Grid

Grid is for defining the relationship between binning grid I/J and map coordinates easting/northing.

Uniqueness

The uniqueness defines the unique sections of the streamer which will each contribute a single hit to the binning calculation.

Start offset is the inline distance from the source to the head of the streamer.

Offset step is twice the distance between two shots on the same source.

No of steps is the streamer length divided by the offset step.

Distance is relative to streamer head in metres.

Percent I is percentage flex for the cell crossline at distance.

Percent J is percentage flex for the cell inline at distance.

Palette

The palette defines the colours to be used in the plot.

Zone

The zone defines which of the unique offsets should be used in this plot. In this 60 step example, we want to look at the near 25% of the streamers, so we should make a zone for “nears”.

Use the cog wheel to generate the zone colours from a palette.

Chapter 3: Creating a new plot

Once you have at least one of all the above settings available, you will be able to add a plot resource. Where multiple resources of a single type are available, there will be an option to select the desired one. Some changes will require unlocking the plot using the padlock

You can generate your new by clicking the cog wheel (red). Once the plot has been generated, you can put it onto a new tab by clicking the new tab button (orange).

You should now see a plot similar to this:
